Victorian History

Coral Allan

The St Duthac Book and Arts Festival are returning to the Mansfield Castle Hotel in 2023. Built in the late 1870’s this beautiful Victorian building is a mere 5 minutes’ walk from Tain town centre. During WW11 Mansfield Castle was used by the military and after the war it was turned into a hotel. Some of the original antique furnishings and wood panelling remain intact.

Don’t let the stories of a ghost put you off coming along to this venue to listen to a standout author. Apparently, the resident ghost, a previous owner by the name of Mrs Fowler, is not scary, just keeping a watchful eye over the castle and grounds!
