Lairds In Waiting with Anne-Mary Paterson

Anne-Mary Paterson is a freelance writer and has written articles for various publications such as The Scots Magazine, Scottish Memories, Steam Days, Your Family History, Scottish Field and The Highlander.

Her interest lies in writing articles about rural matters, gardening, architecture and Scottish & railway history, which as the great grandniece of William & Murdoch Paterson, railway civil engineers who were involved in the design and construction of railways radiating from Inverness makes perfect sense.

This year is the 125th anniversary of the opening of the direct line from Aviemore to Inverness including the Culloden Viaduct, considered to be Murdoch’s greatest work and his solution for the tricky way through Slochd Summit.

Window Art

We love the window art designed and applied by local volunteer Clair Wallace. A beautiful addition to Tain High Street.
